All of my roles in life have driven my passion of being a birth educator and doula.
For my first 2 children, I had to educate and advocate for myself to have a different kind of delivery than I would most have preferred. Because of a blood clotting disorder, I was considered high risk during pregnancy and had to be induced and deliver in a hospital. However, for my 3rd pregnancy and delivery, my care providers believed it would be safe and reasonable for me to deliver at a birth center. My 4th child was born at home, safely under the care of a midwife. Each of my births was a different experience, but all were extremely well supported.
My husband's support during labor is the biggest reason I wanted to become a doula. After hearing many stories of not-so-great (or even terrible) birth experiences, I felt called to not only help other women in pregnancy, labor and the immediate post-partum period through my role as a doula, but also to teach The Bradley Method® of Childbirth Education so other women could have the same empowered, educated birth that I did.
In 2014 I went to doula training with A Sacred Journey Birth Services as well as training for The Bradley Method®. I received my certifications for both and have been serving as a doula and educating families since. It is my honor, pleasure and passion to work with so many wonderful people in preparation for one of the greatest days of their lives!.
There is nothing more exciting and incredible in life than having a baby. I want to give every woman I work with the best chance possible at achieving the kind of birth she dreams about. With so many options regarding pregnancy, labor and delivery, it is important to be educated, respected and supported in making wise choices and discovering the incredible inner strength we have as women and mothers.
I have the passion, dedication, commitment and knowledge to give women confidence in their own innate abilities to birth.
